Install Notes

Here are the installation steps for the Households package of the Nonprofit Starter Pack

Package Install

The Households package is an Extension of the Contacts and Organizations package, so that package must be installed first.

Install from the Current Version Package Installation Link on the Contacts and Organizations Page.

Do not Deploy this package until you have finished the post-install config. Run the installation, but choose Deploy Later.

Post-install Config

Here is a screencast showing the process.

1. Previous Housholding Functionality
   1. Any previously installed householding you have will not be overwritten. However, this new package will make it redundant.
2. Set the _SYSTEM: HOUSEHOLD PROCESSOR
   1. By default, a new household is created for every new contact, if you want to change this behavior
      1. Click on Setup | App Setup | Customize | Contacts | Fields
      2. Scroll down to Contact Custom Fields & Relationships
      3. Click the Field Label for _SYSTEM: HOUSEHOLD PROCESSOR
      4. Scroll Down to Picklist Values and change the default value as desired.
   2. This will change the behavior for all new contacts. If you want to change the behavior for existing contacts
      1. Click the Replace Button in the Picklist Values section and edit the subsequent window as desired.
      2. Click Replace
3. If you are using Contact Record Types: Put Household Processor picklist values in your Contact Record Type
   1. Click on Setup | App Setup | Customize | Contacts | Record Types
   2. Click on your Record Type that you are using for Contacts
   3. Click on _SYSTEM: HOUSEHOLD PROCESSOR
   4. Add all values to the Selected Column
   5. Set Default to appropriate value for your organization
4. Add Houshold fields to Contact layout
   1. Click Setup | Customize | Contacts | Page Layouts
   2. Click Edit next to any layout you want to link to households
   3. In the View Contact fields section on the right of the page, find the Household field and drag it to the appropriate place on the layout(s)
   4. You can also do this with the Household Phone and Household Address fields.

Deploy

1. click Setup | View Installed Packages | Housholds | Deploy
